Serious Spring Cleaning

Over the past month we've all been doing our best to eliminate a lot of clutter around our house. We've never lived in a sty, but many of our questionable possessions collecting dust really belong to my husband, so I have had some trouble determining what to get rid of. And although Paul isn't normally vindictive, if I get rid of something he wanted to keep, he just may get rid of something I want to keep.

Back in 2002 Paul had moved into a small 2 bedroom flat from a 3 bedroom house. He had been divorced for about a year, and his first wife took the majority of their belongings. This experience made him fiercely protective over his few remaining possessions.

In a different world, I'd probably keep more. I have a sewing machine that belonged to Paul's grandmother, and someone from Freecycle is stopping by our house tonight and taking it away. The machine is only back from the 1960's, and it's got some really cool accessories with it. And I'm a little sad it's going. But I don't sew, and the machine is bulky and heavy. So hopefully it's going to someone who will enjoy it.

After more of a month of decluttering, my daughter and I are flying back to the US to visit my mother. And while I'm there we're all going to help her clean and organize my old bedroom and two garden sheds. So I'll probably come back to the UK with.... stuff. The cycle never ends.

Most everybody has junk they can't bear to part with. I have a wild turkey bookend that had an air plant in it. I traded a hideous Christmas gift to a neighbor's child for the bookend, because the bookend is so bad, it's funny.

So now I have to walk out into our garage, bring more stuff into the house, sort through it and throw it away or give it a new home. And stop blogging about stuff. :)

Fimo Clay Food

We have a doll house, and it has many pros and cons. It's cute, it's electrical, it's smaller than the average house. The electrical parts are expensive, poorly constructed and break easily and often. Also the scale of the house (1:18) means finding supplies for the house from sources other than the Lundby company is difficult.

Luckily, a like-minded friend stopped by today and made some food for our house. She made the breakfast plate, the fruit bowl, icecream and the meatballs. I made the steak, peas, butter and pasta.

Now the dollies have beer, wine and hotdogs, what other food do you think they could use for a BBQ?
